Where in the world am I? And the winner is…
By Jeremy Branham on Jul 19, 2011 with Comments 12
Another week brings another edition of “Where in the world am I?” Because most of the US is being torched by scorching heat, I am going to share some cool waters and a place to relax and enjoy to cool you off. Another great place to enjoy to help cool you off in the midst of this summer heat is Lake Bled, Slovenia. Now can you guess where this place is?
This week’s where in the world am I? This is one of the most famous places in this area. However, it’s only a recent discovery for many people. The water is peaceful and serene here but not everywhere in this location. The water is also very unique. As beautiful as this place is, it also has a dark past. Do you know where in the world am I?
Do you know where I am? Are these clues not enough? Follow along on Facebook and Twitter to get more hints on Wednesday and Thursday!
- Leave your guess on the blog only (no Facebook or Twitter guesses allowed) by Thursday, July 21 11:59 PM EST
- Hints will be given on Twitter and my Facebook fan page throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday
- One guess per hint (with each hint, you can leave a new guess)
Congratulations to Lisa Goodmurphy who correctly answered this week’s “Where in the world am I?” photo.
This week was a difficult one as Lisa and Erin Morris were the only two people to get this one correct. So a special shout out to Erin (who was the spa gift certificate winner in last week’s “Where in the world am I?”)
Where in the world am I? – This week, I am not going to tell you the answer. However, have no fears – I am going to do something much better. Even if you haven’t followed along this week, there is no way you want to miss the answer to this week’s “Where in the world am I?”!
Do you want to know where in the world I am in the photo above? Let’s find out more about this national park! Enjoy the many photos of this area!
Lisa Goodmurphy (@GoneWithFamily) is a Canadian mom of two daughters (aged ’14′ and ’8′) who loves to travel and has been exploring the world with her kids since the oldest was 4 months old. They have traveled extensively in North America and, after this summer’s vacation, will have visited 12 European countries. Six months ago she started writing her family travel blog Gone with the Family and she has never had so much fun working hard to get the website off the ground. Find her on Facebook as well.
Congrats to Lisa and Erin and can’t wait to do this again next week!
What is “where is the world am I?” all about?
Reading travel blogs and getting travel information is great! I love doing it and learn about some great new places every day. However, for those that don’t have time to read a lot of travel blogs, this is a great way to share about where you are visiting, where you have recently been, or where you are going and a fact about that place. This way, people have a way of learning about new places and destinations and interesting information about that place.
Start your own “Where in the world am I?” series on your blog and let’s share our photos and facts about places! Feel free to share your “where in the world am I?” posts each week on this blog to participate. And share on Twitter with the hashtag #whereinworld every Wednesday!

Hmmm…. I’ll have to think about this one. (Although I’m proud of myself since last week I got everyone’s “Where in the world?” photos right!)

So Clue#1 – first shots in a tragic war made me immediately think the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in Sarajevo to start WWI. Clue#2 – Some spaghetti westerns were filmed in Yugoslavia so I could still be on track but it’s obviously someplace more rural than Sarajevo so I’m going to guess Plitvice Lake although that’s Croatia.

Congrats to Lisa and Erin for answering correctly this week! If you want to know where, you MUST check out the link to my photos!
What a denouement! I would not have had an idea where this was. Well, I can be excused because I’ve never set foot on Croatia yet. But as they say: learn (and see) something new everyday! Lovely national park too.

I clicked on your link to the national park and saw the photo of a waterfall. It looks like a waterfall I visited in Croatia that has a swimming hole around it. I think it was on an island off of Split. That was in ~2005 so my memory is a little fuzzy!
