Where in the world am I? And the winner is…

where in the world am I oct 26For this week’s Where in the world am I? travel photo, it’s a celebration of Fall! This past weekend, I spent some time enjoying some Fall colors in northern California. This is a beautiful time of year in California with the Autumn leaves in Hope Valley and the beautiful colors of Markleeville. So the inspiration for this week’s post is Fall! However, this is a place that not many people know exists! Do you know where in the world am I?

Congratulations to Lisa Goodmurphy who correctly answered this week’s “Where in the world am I?” photo.

This week was a tough one as Lisa was the only one to answer correctly!

Grover Hot Springs, California – Located near the town of Markleeville, Grover Hot Springs is just 4 miles up the road with natural hot springs, stunning scenery, and some incredible hikes to lakes and waterfalls. A pool filled with water from the thermal hot springs is a popular destination for people through the Spring, Summer, and Fall as people line up to take a dip with their families. While I didn’t enjoy the hot springs, I was able to enjoy a two mile hike to a waterfall. The hiking trails and scenery here are breath-taking. Located in the Great Basin Province, this area is home to meadows, sagebrush, and a pine forest.

While many people in this area know about Grover Hot Springs, this was a new discovery for me. This photo reminded me a little of Yosemite and the Fall colors only highlighted the the backdrop of the dress against the mountains. Stay tuned for a post about this hike on the Hot Springs trail to see more photos of this area.

Oooh, pretty. Are you in Tahoe?

  2. This one is easy. Walnut Grove, Minnesota. I saw Melissa Gilbert run through this prairie many times as a kid watching the TV show “Little House on the Prairie.” I knew someday watching that show would benefit me later in life. It is has now come into fruition.

    • Come on Ted – face the truth! You knew you couldn’t guess Folsom this time so you went with Little House on the Prairie! :) I think you would love this place! Great outdoors, lots of hiking, sites for camping – awesome place to visit and so glad I found out about this place!

  3. I need more clues, but I think it’s somewhere in Northern California. Maybe Tuolumne Meadows?

  4. I have no idea, but it looks utterly amazing! I’d love to spend time here with a pack on my back, exploring!

  5. This one was fun! Grover, North Carolina!!!

  6. Lisa says:

A President and a Sesame Street character has to be Grover. Maybe Grover Hot Springs Park in California??

    • Congrats Lisa! You were the only one to answer correctly this week. How did you get this one correct?

      • Lisa says:

        Hi Jeremy,
I had a little help. I figured out that it had to be a place called Grover from the clues about the President and a Sesame Street character. It looked like California to me so I asked a friend who grew up in Northern California if she knew of anyplace called Grover and she did!

  7. Sophie says:

Ï’ve an aunt who lives near Lake Tahoe. Looks like it could be in that area.
