Weekend Travel Reading – San Francisco, Slovenia, Paris
By Jeremy Branham on Oct 22, 2011 with Comments 10

Are places like the Louvre in Paris boring for kids?
A busy weekend begins as the College Football Travel Tour kicks off with my first college football game on Saturday (get all the stops and great information on the tour in the newsletter). With all the planning I am doing, I have focused a lot on destinations this week. However, I have also made room for a little love and travel as well as some travel gadgets for the road.
So if you want to read about some great destinations, enjoy a little romance in your travel, or like technology, enjoy these posts as part of the weekend travel reading.
San Francisco – Best Travel Cities – 2Backpackers
October is the best month of the year to visit San Francisco. Check out the photos from Jason and Aracely and you can see how perfect the weather was for their trip to San Francisco. Read about Fisherman’s Wharf, Haight-Ashbury, Chinatown, North Beach, Union Square, and more. A city that’s close to my home, it’s a wonderful place to explore!

Lake Bled, Slovenia: Not just another lake – Wandering Earl
Earl explores one of my favorite countries in the world – Slovenia. While he has already proclaimed his love for Ljubljana, Earl discovers the beauty of Lake Bled and realizes how special it is. I’ve been a fan of Slovenia ever since I visited it a few years ago. So join Earl through this photo journey and exploration of Lake Bled and find more photos of Lake Bled as well as a visitor’s guide to Slovenia.
Have you ever been to Slovenia?

Review: Travel photo gear I love – A Dangerous Business
I admitted in last week’s weekend travel reading that I am not a big fan of technology when I travel. However, Amanda’s review of this travel gear for photos got me excited. As a result of her post, I bought the Kodak Playsport and will try it out this weekend. However, there are some other great gadgets as well. I am still not a huge fan or technology and gadgets when I travel but some are worth having.
What’s your favorite travel gear on the road?
Don’t forget to check out stories from the College Football Travel Tour next week as well as a giveaway from Huntington Beach! Enjoy a little weekend travel reading and feel free to share your favorite posts!

Thanks for the mention, Jeremy! I’m glad my post was helpful to you, and I’m definitely interested in finding out what you think of the Playsport!

Thanks Amanda! I actually tried it out today. I like it but I have to get used to using it. I think I was a little too fast in my movements so the video wasn’t as nice as I wanted. As for the photos, I was a little disappointed using it for that as my Nikon point and shoot seems to work much better.
Although I cannot get any of it while I’m in South America, I’ll have to check out the photo gear review.

My photography is OK – especially when you can fix stuff with the photo editing software. I definitely need to work on my videos though!
1. We love San Francisco! My husband says he could actually live there – except our children and grandchild are in Lexington, KY so that will never happen! We love the Blue Mermaid restaurant at Fisherman’s Wharf; GREAT chowder.
2. I loved their post about Paris for kids; I never would have considered it. I saw several kids on our cruise recently that looked pretty darn bored – there was one of our foodie tour of Portland. Seriously, did they think the kid would like that??
3. I’m enjoying the romance stories on her blog; my husband referred to me recently as his “lovely bride of 34 years”. Yeah, we are pretty happy together.
4. My favorite travel gear has got to be my iPad. Recently downloaded a library book while sitting in an airport half a continent away – pretty cool!

I have to go to Miette and to the ferry building farmer’s market. It’s all about stuffing food down my gullet.
