Announcing the first stop on the 2012 College Football Travel Tour with Expedia

2012 College Football Travel Tour Expedia Find Yours logoCollege football is here.  Fall travel is just around the corner.  It’s my favorite time of year.  And starting this Saturday, the 2012 College Football Travel Tour with Expedia officially kicks off!

While college football inspired me to travel, there is so much more to this series than just tailgates and touchdowns.  As much as look forward to the teams and the gameday experiences, visiting college towns and cities in the US excites me.

Cooler temperatures.  The color of autumn leaves.  Destinations that take on new identities now that the kids are back in school.  And an oblong shaped pigskin.  Fall is my favorite season to travel.

So if you love football, Fall, travel, or all three, this series will have something for you.  This series is about you!

The 2012 College Football Travel Tour – telling your story

In the middle of the planning and packing, I remind myself what this series is about.  Sure, seeing college football games and introducing people to college towns with some travel tips is a lot of fun.  However, there is a bigger message here.

This series is part of the Expedia Find Yours campaign where every traveler has their own travel story to tell.  This College Football Travel Tour is mine – a travel story born out of a passion for sports and a desire to see the world and explore.

As I think about this series starting in a couple of days, I am a small part of a bigger picture.  You are just as much a part of this story as I am.  Together, travel is our story.

Join me on the road.  If you see me in your town, say hello and introduce yourself.  I want to hear your story.

As I visit these college towns, you will read my stories as I share their stories.  You will see the photos and videos.  You will feel the passion and excitement of college football.  However, this series is about a community.

University of Washington sorority girlsYou may be one of those sorority girls at the University of Washington that I met walking the streets of Seattle.  You may be that couple I met in the Annapolis ice cream shop as we swapped stories about college football at the Naval Academy and the University of South Carolina.  You may that guy in the center of an NCAA recruiting investigation that I met at a tailgate and heard his side of the story.

On the College Football Travel Tour, there will be giveaways, meet ups, and tweet ups.  No matter how much football, food, photos, or travel tips I share, this is about meeting like minded people who share a passion.

I’ve already learned that my best travel experiences have been the people that I’ve met.  Before I leave for the College Football Travel Tour this week, I already know these will my favorite travel experiences on this tour as well.

Join me on the road.  Share your passion.  Tell your story.  You are the best thing that will happen on the College Football Travel Tour with Expedia this season.

The first stop on the 2012 College Football Travel Tour with Expedia

The packing, planning, organizing, and researching are almost done.  The hotel is booked.  Plane tickets purchased.  And the football ticket is in my hand.  This week, I fly to the first stop on the 2012 College Football Travel Tour with Expedia.

This year, there will be at least 8 games on the College Football Travel Tour.  And the first one is this Saturday.  Where am I going?  What’s the first game?  What will I be doing?  What will I share with you?

Check out my video as I announce where I am going – a destination that will surprise you!

Join me on the road for the College Football Travel Tour with Expedia.  It will be a fun ride!

  1. Can’t believe it’s college football season already. Looking forward to actually being able to watch the games with my friends this year.

  2. Leah Travels says:

You’re going to love Dublin. I can’t wait to find out how the Notre Dame and Navy fans travel as well as how the Irish respond to American football. I think one of the most fun aspects will be watching their reactions and listening to their comments and questions. Have a great time and safe travels.

    • Thanks Leah! I look forward to my first trip to Ireland. I just wish I had more time there. I would love to explore more of the country but will do my best to make the most of my time. It should be a fun and exhausting trip (if it isn’t, then I am not making the most of my time there!) :)

  3. Steve Whitty says:

I’ll be watching the game on TV in the UK. Never know I just spot you in the crowd. Enjoy Dublin.

  4. Congratulations on the, um, kick off of the College Football Travel Tour!

  5. Erik says:

Amazing- Dublin & the Irish! Should be an amazing experience!

  6. Amanda says:

That sounds so fun! I think you’ll love Dublin!

  7. Christy says:

Heck yea! It’s so exciting that you are going to Ireland!

    • Very excited! Not a usual first stop for a college football game and my very first trip to Ireland! Only 4 days total so it will be a quick trip. Wish I had time to see and explore more.

  8. I was just in an Irish bar in Chicago, and I thought about how you can always find good draft beer and good ambiance in any Irish bar in many places around the world. It got me thinking how I would love to go to Ireland and drink in a real Irish bar. I will live vicariously through you on this one.

    • Guess I will get to experience this first hand when I am there. I will see if the Irish gift of gab is true. Look forward to my time there. Should be fun – both from a travel and football perspective!

  9. Laurence says:

Wow! Way to build the suspense – I would never have guessed Ireland as the destination :D You’re going to have an awesome time, and I’m looking forward to following you on this adventure. Even if you are going to go on about football a lot ;)

    • I thought this one would surprise people. It’s a fun way to kick off the tour I have to admit! I promise there won’t be as much football as you think. There will be some but there will be plenty to see and do that doesn’t involve football – I promise :)

  10. So excited for you mate! This is going to be epic to follow along with. Just wish I knew a bit more about College Football :)

  11. Turtle says:

So that’s what you sound like! So American!! :)

  12. This is a pretty cool travel angle. You incorporate your passion and explore so many fun towns around the U.S. I’ll be keeping up with your trip (despite not knowing much about football…). Awesome that you’re going to Dublin!
