What is the College Football Travel Tour?

2012 College Football Travel Tour Expedia Find Yours logoWhat happens when college football and travel collide?  You get a sports and travel series like you’ve never seen before – the College Football Travel Tour.

When I was 9 years old, I had a chance to experience my first college football game.  Since that day, my life hasn’t been the same.  Sure, I enjoyed the game but it was as much about the passion of the fans, a fascination with college campuses, and a culture that was as consumed by events outside the game as the game itself.

When I got to college, I had the chance to travel to another part of the world for the first time.  Thanks to a trip to Estonia I experience a different type of passion and culture that I never knew existed.  I spent time learning foreign phrases I would never use again.  I was consumed with the history of the country and the people.  My view of the world was changed forever.  And so was I.

A unique sports AND travel series

Today, the culture of college football and travel collide as my two passions have come together to feature a series that will appeal to anyone who loves sports or travel.

If you love college football, I want to share the tailgating experiences, the games, the drama, and unique stories that can turn a small towns into a 100,000 fanatical metropolis on a Saturday afternoon.  If you love travel, find out what makes these college towns so unique with a look at interesting stories, tours of college campuses, places to eat and stay, and fun things to do.

You can join me on the road!

Make sure to see the Army-Navy game if you get a chance. While they’re not big time football programs, take it from a former West Pointer, there is aboslutely nothing quite like it.

    Cheers,

    • Thanks Michael. I actually went to the Army-Navy game last year when it was in DC. I haven’t posted photos from the game (yet) but I did write about my experience doing the game ball run and my impressions of Annapolis.

I have a LOT of respect for the military academies. I went to that game last year out of respect for what they do. This year, I went to the Air Force Academy (I was scheduled to do West Point but my plans changed) because I want to make sure that people get the stories about these institutions. I’ve written a little about the Air Force as well so come back and check out the College Football Travel Tour page to get some of those stories.

I agree that Army/Navy is a great rivalry – regardless of their records.

This is so cool!! What a fantastic experience! Next year, you have got to get to a Wisconsin game! :)

    • The tough part about this series is basic math – there is one of me, 13 weeks in the season, and 120 division 1 teams. I can only do so many games a year. However, Wisconsin would be a great to do! You are the second person to recommend Wisconsin.
