Awash in a Whirlpool: the secret Niagara Falls hiking trail
As I sat on the rocky shores, I stared at the turquoise waters as they swirled and sloshed like a spin cycle set in slow motion. Nature’s hand carved a serene, rhythmic masterpiece through the river. Underneath, it’s fury raged with currents and forces that could kill a man in minutes. I was paralyzed by [...]
I am not a full time traveler (how you can travel more with a full time job)
As a 9 to 5 traveler, I probably travel more than the average 40 hour a week person. However, I also live a life many people can relate to – full time job, house, car, family, daily routines and stresses. I don’t travel full time. Yet I want show people who are like me how they can travel more.
What the USA vs Canada soccer match taught me about travel
As I walked inside, the place was packed. I could barely move through the crowd. As I walked to my seat, I looked around. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea. A sea of red and white surrounded me. Flags were waving, voices screaming, and here I was right in the middle.
I’m a travel photographer and this is my Yosemite in Winter ebook
I am still not comfortable saying those words. However, I am proclaiming it loud and clear with my Yosemite in Winter ebook. This has been a journey. I’ve learned a lot and I still have so much more to learn. One photo at a time, with the right light, in the right position, framing it [...]
Old friends, life changes, and a high school reunion

Reuniting with the past in South Carolina
I landed late on a Thursday night in Myrtle Beach. Ten years have passed since I last visited here. Nearly twenty years had passed since I lived here. Over the next couple of days, I revisited the places and memories of my teenage years. Both Myrtle Beach and I have changed.
A walk through Pittsburgh (photo essay)
A cold, overcast day greeted me as I took my first steps through downtown Pittsburgh. From the days of the Steel City, the city of Pittsburgh has received a makeover. I was here to experience the Pittsburgh Renaissance for myself.
Crashing waves, wind-swept beaches, and the perfect storm in Myrtle Beach
As I overlooked one of the most popular spots in Myrtle Beach, I watched as the gray clouds covered the skies like a blanket on a cold winter day. Here in early May, it felt more like winter than spring at the beach. Mist fell from the sky as the bitter, cold wind ripped through my clothes and made me wonder why I decided to spend a day at the beach.
